Chasing Sunshine Dog Rescue is committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned dogs. All of our dogs are cared for in foster homes while they wait for their "fur-ever" families. Our capacity to help more dogs depends entirely on the availability of foster homes at any given time.

The United States has the largest population of dogs and cats of any country, with nearly 185 million pets. However, alongside this, there are over 5.5 million homeless animals. While the U.S. leads in the number of people who provide exceptional care for their pets, it also has a staggering number of animals that are abandoned, bred for profit, or abused. These issues significantly contribute to the growing number of stray and homeless pets across the country.
Chasing Sunshine Dog Rescue, founded by Lora and Sage Rainier, was inspired by love, community, experience, and the adoption of thousands of dogs, yet it still addresses a growing need for change. Our amazing community of volunteers includes board members, fosters, donors, and social advocates, all united with a shared goal: to be the change.
We were given the incredible opportunity by NBC CT to reach more homes and families about the positive impacts of fostering homeless animals.
Foster homes not only help the homeless animals already in our care but also provide space to help relieve disaster impacts like we have seen with both hurricane Helene and Milton.
Their homes and shelters have been decimated, they need us now more than ever.

From all of us at Chasing Sunshine Dog Rescue and the of course the canines themselves, THANK YOU!
