Many engaging in practices known as "flipping" for quick financial gain over their animals long term well-being, neglecting to spay or neuter animals before adoption, and failing to enforce contracts that promote responsible pet ownership.
This results in a cycle of abandonment and return. At CSDR, we believe that the solution lies not only in ethical rescue practices themselves but also in educating potential pet owners and ensuring true adoption matches.
Our goal is to create lasting relationships between pets and their adoptive families, reducing the likelihood of returns and increasing the chances of happy, fulfilling lives together. By focusing on compassionate and responsible practices, we strive to make a real difference for the animals we rescue and the communities we serve.

Q: What is your policy on fostering animals?
A: We are always in need of foster homes for animals who are awaiting adoption.
You may have noticed some of our adoptable animals labeled as "currently awaiting placement". These dogs have been rescued by CSDR from various challenging circumstances and are temporarily staying in our "group homes." These foster homes have dedicated their homes and lives to serve as a transitional space for dogs recovering from their past hardships while they await a committed private foster home to continue their journey toward a forever family. However alike any other home, these too fill rather quickly bringing our efforts of saving animals in active need to a halt.
It takes time, energy, funding, love, and dedication to foster a single dog let alone multiple. By opening your home to one of these grateful companions, you are sure to be rewarded with an unforgettable experience.

Q: I am worried I will want to adopt every dog I foster...
A: This is a very common worry. Fortunately, us at Chasing Sunshine have a pretty straight forward answer that keeps us going ourselves every single day.
Each time a foster dog finds a forever home, it opens up space to save another dog, giving them the chance to show they too deserve a loving "fur-ever" family.
We at CSDR promise to provide every foster home and family with support throughout each individual journey. We even have a private facebook page exclusively for volunteers to share intimate experiences and advice through.
It truly takes a village.

Q: What care expenses are covered by CSDR for each foster dog?
A: CSDR covers expenses for:
- ALL medical care
- Any necessary training
- ID Tag
- Documentation
- Food (upon request of financial support)

Q: What are my responsibilities as a Foster Parent?
A: As a canine foster home for CSDR you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring your foster dog is well loved and cared for on a daily basis
- Taking and submitting routine photos to update their adoption listing
- Ensuring your foster dog attends any and all medical visits at the location provided to you
- Ensuring you remain in consistent communication with the rescue on your foster dog's well being. (updates are how we help get them adopted!)
- Assisting in selection of a final adopter

Q: How do I know if an animal is a good fit for my family?
A: We always encourage meet and greets with every member of the family as well as other family pets to make sure everyone gets along. Our adoption counselors will work with you to find the best match for your family.
Feel free to fill out an adoption application without listing a specific dog and we may just have the perfect match for you based on your answers!

Q: What is involved in the adoption process?
A: The CSDR Adoption Process:
- Fill out an Adoption Application
- Await response from a CSDR volunteer
- Schedule an interview
- Schedule a Home Visit
- Meet & Greet (sometimes a second meet & greet will be encouraged in order to meet other pets, etc.)
- Schedule ADOPTION!!
- Be their sunshine

A: At CSDR we pride ourselves in creating truly lasting bonds between families and our adoptable companions.
Lots of dogs are cute, but there are only a few times in our lives that we get to feel that incredible moment between ourselves and a potential new companion where "love at first sight" gains a whole new meaning.
By filling out our adoption application found in the "Applications" tab, you will be giving us insight into your family and lifestyle to help us ensure that magical match.
Due to our detailed animal evaluations, dedicated volunteers, thorough adoption process, post-adoption support, and access to professional guidance, CSDR has proudly gone its entire lifespan without having a single adopted dog returned to us.

Q: What is the "Adoption Donation"?
A: To truly fulfill our mission of reducing pet overpopulation, ending suffering, and providing adopters with healthy, adoptable dogs ready for their forever homes, the Chasing Sunshine team must secure the necessary funding for these efforts.
Through "Adoption Donations", fundraisers, and community support, we are always looking for new ways to fund the medical needs and routine care for the companions we have committed to.
Adoption Donations are based on age and listed as follows;
Puppies under 1y; $695
Dogs 1-5y; $595
Dogs over 5y or disabled; $495
